Diagnosing a Tumor, Removing it Surgically and Proving it Histopathologically is just the beginning of the Tryst in the Journey of the Patient as well as the Surgeon. 

It can be a simple skin tumor that just needs a wide local excision (removal), or it could be a sinister small cyst or lump sitting on your ankle which turns out to be more malignant requiring chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Then there is the Risk of Recurrence. And all the explanations and expectations that go along with the loss confidence, each the same patient goes under the knife.



Common Misconceptions that people have while coming to a surgeon for opinion:

1. A surgeon will always suggest surgery.

2. Suture removal is the end of Treatment.

3. Surgery is the Last Resort.

4. Tumors tend to spread if touched by knife.

5. Any recurrence of the tumor is fault of the Surgeon.     

6. Patient will look same before and after cancer surgery.

7. Better to Wait for now than undergo surgery.





Facts and the Truth about Surgeons:

1. Surgeon considers surgery only if it is essential.

2. Regular Follow up is needed much later after suture removal.

3. Some tumors require only surgery, some surgery followed by chemo and radio therapy and vice versa.

4. Tumors are removed by the knife not spread due to them.

5. Recurrence is dependent on the extent of removal and on the malignant potential of the tumor.

6. A surgeon always tries to keep the cosmetic and functional aspects of the patient as near normal as possible while reconstructing after cancer ablative surgery.  

7. To wait or not to wait for surgery is best left to the surgeon to decide.

Bodysculpting with EMS (Electro magnetic Stimulation)






Introduction:



The popular acronym for electromagnetic treatments applied to body contouring is HIFEM—high-intensity focused electromagnetic treatments. 

This method was first adapted for body contouring in 2018 and has quickly become a TREND in plastic surgery. 

Electromagnetic treatments were cleared by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2017 for strengthening, firming, and toning the abdomen, buttocks, thighs, arms, and calves.

How It Works:

It essentially causes 20,000 muscle contractions in 30 minutes

Bio-Physics Behind it:

A circular magnetic coil positioned over the body produces rapidly alternating magnetic fields that induce an electric current in the underlying tissue. Unlike radiofrequency, the energy does not cause thermal effects. This electric current stimulates motor neurons to cause involuntary “supramaximal” muscle contractions. Almost 20,000 pulses are delivered in a 30-minute treatment session. The rectus abdominis, internal oblique, and external oblique muscles are targeted. Muscle stimulation is intended to produce muscle hypertrophy without the need for exercise. Muscle stimulation is also believed to create a hypermetabolic state, causing local lipolysis. It is hypothesized that fat cells are overwhelmed by the metabolic reaction, becoming dysfunctional and initiating programmed death, called apoptosis.

TRAUMA TO EAR TREATEMNT AND AFTER CARE



Here are seven important aftercare tips for a sutured ear injury:

1. **Keep the Area Dry**: Avoid getting the sutured area wet for the first 24-48 hours. After that, you can gently wash around the sutures with cool water and mild soap⁴.

2. **Clean the Wound**: Clean the wound daily with a gentle antiseptic solution as recommended by your healthcare provider. Pat the area dry with a clean gauze pad or cloth¹.

3. **Apply Antibiotic Ointment**: Use a thin layer of antibiotic ointment on the sutures to prevent infection and promote healing³.

4. **Avoid Physical Activities**: Refrain from activities that might strain or reopen the wound, such as heavy lifting, vigorous exercise, or playing in environments like sandpits or mud⁵.

5. **Protect the Sutures**: Cover the sutured area with a bandage or Band-Aid, especially at night, to prevent the sutures from catching on your pillowcase³.

6. **Monitor for Signs of Infection**: Watch for signs of infection such as increased redness, swelling, warmth, or discharge. If you notice any of these symptoms, contact your healthcare provider immediately¹.

7. **Follow-Up Appointments**: Attend all follow-up appointments to ensure proper healing and to have the sutures removed at the appropriate time, usually within 1-2 weeks³.

Pyogenic Granuloma: A Red spot or Something Sinister


PYOGENIC GRANULOMA


Noncancerous Growth: Pyogenic granulomas are benign (non-cancerous) growths of blood vessels that can develop on the skin or mucous membranes.
Appearance: They typically appear as red, fleshy bumps that are raised above the skin surface and can bleed easily.
Common Causes: These growths often occur due to minor injuries, hormonal changes (like pregnancy), or certain medications.
Misleading Name: Despite the name, pyogenic granulomas are not related to pus production or infection. The term “pyogenic” means pus-producing, but these growths do not generally contain pus.
Common Sites: They can appear anywhere on the body but are commonly found on the face, hands, arms, and inside the mouth.
Treatment: Small pyogenic granulomas may be treated with conservative treatment, but larger ones often require removal through surgical procedures or medications.
Recurrence: Even after treatment, pyogenic granulomas can recur or appear in other areas.
