World Plastic Surgery Day: 15th July

Sushruta (1000 BC) was the first Indian who is honored as the Founder of Plastic Surgery
and in 2011 another Plastic Surgeon Dr
Raja Sabapathy gave the concept of National Plastic Surgery Day which was
accepted by the world forum as World Plastic Surgery Day. Since then more than
45000 Plastic Surgeons around the World come together on 15th July
every year on a common platform with the sole aim of bridging the gaps in
Awareness, Access and Affordability; ultimately improving lives through Plastic
Surgery.
Dr Ashish Gupta, Editor of North Zone Association of Plastic Surgeons and Director Dept
of Plastic Surgery, Deep Hospital
said that earlier plastic surgery services were only available in medical
colleges and corporate hospitals. By developing plastic surgery department in
smaller hospitals and working in tandem with nursing homes there are 24 men and
women practicing the craft of Plastic Surgery In The District Of Ludhiana,
bringing facilities of managing Burns, Reconstructing Birth Defects, Scarless
Healing of Hand and Facial Injuries, Post Cancer Reconstructions for a near
normal life, Healing Chronic Wounds and off course making people Beautiful By
Cosmetic Surgery.
Dr Gupta said, “A plastic surgeon treats each and every age group, all
genders, each body part from the hair on your head to the tip of your toe nail
and with every specialty of medicine and surgery. As vast is the scope of
plastic surgeons’ clinical services similar are his/ her attributes: Empathy
and Compassion, Commitment to Excellence, Creativity, Patient-Centric Approach,
Integrity and Honesty and Scientific Curiosity driven for newer innovations.”
Dr Samarpan, CEO Deep Hospital said that at Deep hospital patients comes
from all walks of life and from every corner of the state. The department of
plastic surgery has over a period of just one year helped more than 1000 families
in getting their wards back into the public life and that soon we shall be
adding a comprehensive unit of lasers which shall cater to multiple problems
that could not be addressed with surgery alone.
